Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Headliner when you browse, book, perform or manage a business on the platform.

Last updated 3 November 2026

Draft pending legal review

This policy describes how the platform works today and is being reviewed by South African counsel before launch. Details marked “to be confirmed” will be completed once the operating company is registered.

1. Who we are

Headliner is operated by [Headliner operating company: to be confirmed] (registration number [company registration number: to be confirmed]), registered at [registered address: to be confirmed]. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “you” means anyone using the platform.

2. What the platform does

Headliner is a marketplace that connects customers, clubs, venues and event organisers with independent and agency-represented entertainers for lawful, professional performances and appearances. Unless a page says otherwise, the performer, not Headliner, provides the performance.

We provide the listings, booking tools, messaging, payments processing through our payment partner, memberships for digital content, and support. We are not a party to the performance agreement between the customer and the performer, but we hold and release payments in line with these terms.

3. Who can use it

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account, request a booking or view member content.
  • Performers must complete age and identity verification before their profile is published.
  • Agencies, clubs, venues and event companies must be registered businesses and complete business verification.
  • You must give accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

4. Lawful, professional entertainment only

Bookings are for performances and appearances such as club and venue shows, corporate and brand events, launches, festivals and private celebrations. You must not use the platform to request, offer or arrange:

  • sexual services of any kind, or anything presented as such;
  • anything involving a person under 18;
  • performances without the performer’s free and informed consent;
  • anything that breaks South African law, venue licensing conditions or our Content and conduct rules.

We refuse and report such requests and may suspend or close accounts involved.

5. Requesting and accepting bookings

A request sets out the performer, package, date, time, broad location and your notes. Only the performer can accept a request or any change to it. Agencies and venues may coordinate, but they cannot accept for a performer.

A booking is confirmed only when the performer has accepted the current terms and the amount due to confirm has been paid. Each set of terms, including the price and the cancellation policy in force, is saved with the booking and applies to it.

If the performer suggests different terms, nothing changes until you agree. Requests that are not answered, and accepted bookings that are not paid by the deadline shown, expire automatically.

6. Prices, payments and fees

Prices are shown in South African rand (ZAR). Performers set their own package prices. The amount due to confirm (a deposit or the full price) is shown before you pay.

Payments are processed by our payment partner. We never see or store full card details. Platform fees and commissions are shown to performers and businesses before they accept a booking or choose a plan.

Value-added tax is applied where required once our tax registration is confirmed (VAT number: [VAT number: to be confirmed]).

7. Changes, cancellations and refunds

New dates need both the performer’s and the customer’s agreement. Cancellations and refunds follow the policy saved with each booking. See our Refund and cancellation policy.

8. Memberships and creator subscriptions

Memberships and creator subscriptions give access to member-only digital content only. They do not entitle you to a booking, a meeting or any physical access to a performer.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Free trials are available once per plan.

9. Additional terms for performers

  • You confirm that you are 18 or older and that the details you give us are true.
  • You decide which requests to accept, your prices, hours and travel limits.
  • You hold the rights to the media you upload and have the consent of everyone shown in it.
  • You are responsible for your own tax affairs unless you agree otherwise in a written contract.
  • Agency representation applies only on the terms you accept yourself, and you can end it at any time.

10. Additional terms for agencies, clubs and venues

  • You must hold the licences needed for the events you host or arrange.
  • You may only act within the permissions a performer has granted you, and never accept bookings for them.
  • Team members act on your behalf; you are responsible for who you invite and what they can do.

11. Content and reviews

All media is reviewed and must be nonexplicit. You keep ownership of what you upload and give us a licence to host, process and display it on the platform for as long as it is published. We may remove content that breaks our rules, with notice and a right to appeal.

12. Our responsibility to you

We work to keep the platform available, accurate and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Performers are responsible for their performances, and hosts are responsible for their venues and guests.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or liability that cannot lawfully be limited. See also our Disclaimer.

13. Suspension and closing accounts

You can close your account at any time from Security and privacy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put others at risk or involve fraud. Decisions about content and verification can be appealed.

14. Complaints and disputes

Report a problem with a booking from the booking page, or contact us. Our support team reviews disputes using the booking history and what both sides submit. You may also approach the relevant consumer protection authorities or ombud. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

15. Changes to these terms

We will tell you about material changes before they apply. Bookings already made keep the terms saved with them.
